Toorak House

This project is an interior renovation of the Kitchen, Bedrooms, Bathrooms, Cellar and Entry of a residence in Toorak that was built in the early 20th century. The work undertaken in this renovation unpicked a visually uncomfortable and disjointed collection of interventions that took place throughout the house over a period of time from the late 1980s to the early 2000s.

The renovation has stitched together a cohesive, traditional aesthetic for the house. The completed renovation is highly practical, with all of the expected and necessary features commensurate with such a residence. Refined natural materials have been used, and traditional design elements, finishes and details uphold the dignity of the house's formal layout and keep with the spirit of the era in which the house was originally constructed.
