Edithvale Life Saving Club

The Edithvale Surf Life Saving Club is a continuing project that has involved considerable negotiation with the community and DWELP. It features a building partially buried in the sand dune, with full disability access and a community kiosk at beach level.

The design of this new beachfront pavilion did not increase the original building footprint into the dune space, as one of the primary drivers of the design was to protect the natural ecological habitats of the area. This continues through to the

rooftop garden, which assists the building to blend into the dune while also adding insulation to the lower levels. Finally, a raingarden acts as a filter for street water runoff, before being discharged into the ocean.
